Curators University bootcamp is the Global Hour of AI, Inspiring Over 200 Students in Modakeke

Modakeke, Osun State | 12th December 2025

Curators University has successfully hosted its first major public event following its groundbreaking, marking a significant milestone in its journey to become a leading centre for technology-driven education in Nigeria and beyond.

The event, the Global Hour of AI—formerly known as the Hour of Code and organised globally by Code.org to commemorate Computer Science Week—brought together over 200 secondary school students from 20 high schools across Modakeke, the University’s host community. The programme introduced students to foundational concepts in artificial intelligence, computational thinking, and problem-solving, while sparking early interest in careers in technology and innovation.

The gathering represented more than a one-day learning experience; it signalled the beginning of a sustained commitment by Curators University to engage its host community through inclusive, future-focused educational initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Olu Amusan, Founder of Curators University, said:

“This event is deeply symbolic for us. It is our first major activity since breaking ground, and it reinforces why Curators University exists—to open doors to opportunity early, especially for young people in our host communities. Seeing over 200 students from Modakeke engage confidently with AI and computer science reminds us that talent is everywhere; access is what truly makes the difference.”

Students who participated described the experience as both eye-opening and inspiring. Israel Ojo, a student of Glorious Hope College, Modakeke, shared:

“Before today, I thought AI was something very far from us. Now I understand that people like me can learn it, build with it, and even create solutions for our own communities. This has changed how I see my future.”

The Global Hour of AI event was made possible through generous in-kind support from Vesti, UAC Foods, and Scholars model college, Glorious Hope, as well as financial contributions from Curators University patrons, including Mr. Bamidele Ogunmakin, Dr. Ibukun Adebolu, and Mr. Innocent Udeogu, co-founder of Ubenwa AI.

Curators University expressed its appreciation to all partners and supporters who contributed to the success of the programme and reaffirmed its commitment to hosting many more community-centred learning experiences as campus development progresses.

As Curators University continues to rise from the ground, initiatives such as the Global Hour of AI underscore its vision: to nurture globally competitive talent, rooted in local communities, and prepared for the realities of an AI-driven world.
