Olusola Amusan Pledges ₦3bn Investment for Modakeke at Akoraye Day 2026

Modakeke, Osun State — Founder of Curators University and Modakeke Akoraye Golden Son of the Year, Olusola Amusan, has pledged to attract over ₦3 billion in investments into the Modakeke community in 2026, in what he described as a deliberate move to translate recognition into tangible development outcomes.

Amusan made the commitment at the 2026 Akoraye Day celebration, Modakeke’s annual cultural and development-focused gathering that brings together sons and daughters of the town from across Nigeria and the diaspora. He was honoured alongside other illustrious indigenes, including Alhaji Adewale Adeniji, Director-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, and Alhaji Kazeem Odeyeiwa, Chief Executive Officer of Repton Group.

Speaking during the ceremony, Amusan said the pledge would focus on education, infrastructure, enterprise development and youth empowerment, noting that sustainable progress must be anchored in long-term investment rather than symbolism.

“This honour carries responsibility. Modakeke invested in me long before I found my path. In 2026, we are committing to mobilise over ₦3 billion into this community—into infrastructure, education and opportunities that can shape the future of our people,” he said.

The event was hosted by the Kabiyesi of Modakeke, His Royal Majesty Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, whose leadership has continued to emphasise unity and development. The celebration was further elevated by the presence of the Royal Father of the Day, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, reinforcing Modakeke’s cultural significance within Yorubaland.

Also in attendance were His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo, and His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, underscoring the importance of Akoraye Day as a unifying platform for traditional institutions.

The political leadership of Osun State was represented by Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who attended alongside senior members of his cabinet, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Commissioner for Transportation, and the Commissioner for Information, among other top government officials.

Also present was Dr. Karl Toriola, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, who attended as a prince of the land and a major donor to Modakeke’s development, reflecting continued private-sector and philanthropic support for the community.

Akoraye Day 2026 featured cultural displays, honours and development-focused conversations, with stakeholders highlighting the need for stronger public-private collaboration to accelerate grassroots growth.

Observers say Amusan’s ₦3 billion investment pledge has set a new tone for community engagement, positioning Modakeke for increased investor interest and structured development initiatives in the coming year
